Wide binding blanket

Today I began the wide binding blanket for my niece. I have had a hard time with choosing a fabric to use, and really wish I had quilting experience to make a super cool quilt instead. Photos to come soon.

The lumpy.

I ran across this idea for a floor pillow here over at Living with Punks. I knew I had to make a few. At the time I had 2 daughters with a third on the way, and only one child size arm chair. I had decided that these would be perfect and allow me to get rid of the over-sized chair and still give each kid a comfy place to sit.

I am currently finishing up the third one. The older girls love them, carry them all over the house and have re-named them "the lumpy".

Watcha think?

Baby Jayden

I realized while leaving the last post that I have not posted the last 2 projects I completed and I need to catch up.... so here is the Baby Jayden set.

I hope is mommy and daddy love it because I think it is pretty cute.

Fat Quarter Giveaway!

Oh how I love the Moda Bake shop. I visit this site often and drool over the lovely projects. I have yet to attempt one, but it is the next thing on my project list. Anyway. That is another story for another day.

I am blogging here because there is a lovely giveaway that could potentially help me along in my quest of completing something on my "to make" list.... over at The Polka Dot Chair there is a book and fabric giveaway and I cannot wait to win!!! Click on over and enter yourself to win too!

My first dress to skirt

Here is the next little something I have been contemplating for quite some time. Finally finished! This dress started out as a dress that daughter 2 wore for her baptism. She was older and crawling/walking when we baptized her, and thus this dress ended up torn quite badly. I have thought about finding a way to give it a new life, and I must admit, I think it is even more cute as a skirt than it was as the dress!

It took me longer than I liked once I was started, but as I went I realized that there was a bit of hand sewing to be done if I wanted it to look nice. Granted it is just a little skirt to play dress up, but big sister has some pretty fancy dresses, and I figured she deserved one that is just as nice.

Project One

I am feeling pretty good that I managed to finish this one in just 2 days. When we picked the fabric I was not completely sure, but daughter 1 was sold when she saw the dinosaurs. She is so funny and could not be swayed, and so the fabric came home. I am pleasantly surprised with how they turned out.

I changed the shape of the burp rag from what I have done in the past where the edges were rounded. They look pretty good, and weren't too much more work.

The husband has a friend who recently had a baby boy and these will be headed to their door soon.

Let it begin

The husband has been pushing me for months to get something put together where I can show off my semi-handi work. :)

I have been working on my sewing skills for almost a year now, so I suppose it is time to stop hiding. Most of the things I make are either for one of my beautiful daughters, niece or fantastic nephews, however I also make lots of things that become gifts for friends and family as well.

This blog will be the place you can stop over and check out what I am up to in my virtual sewing room. Ha!
